Mom's Berry Dumplings

Here's a delicious recipe straight from childhood kitchen memories with my mom and sister...enjoy!

Berry Dumplings

4 Cups Berries
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
2 1/2 Tbs Cornstarch

1 1/2 Cup Flour
2 Tsp Baking Powder
3/4 Tsp Salt
3 Tbs Sugar
3 Tbs Shortening
3/4 Cup Milk

Mix 1st 4 ingredients in sauce pan and heat until mixture bubbles. In separate bowl, cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir in milk and drop mixture by tablespoon into bubbling berry mixture. Cover with lid and let simmer for 12-15 minutes. Serve with yummy vanilla icecream!

*you can use frozen berries and enjoy this dessert all year long!!

Love the berry photo, Lisa! I still have this recipe--you gave me one of the "old" recipe sheets from the farm and it's in my notebook.

Eric left a comment responding to your avocado accusation on my accent post. =)

Ah, the berry dumplings; my FAVORTIE part of summer. I've never used cinnamon though... I think you made that part up. =)

Jen, cinnamon is totally on the recipe...you know, the one's on the pink sheet.

Thanks Carrie, I took this photo up in Seattle :)
